ROBERT W. D'LOREN
CEO & CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD
Robert W. D’Loren has been an entrepreneur, innovator and pioneer of the consumer branded products industry for the past 35 years. Today, he serves as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Xcel Brands. Since the company’s founding in 2011, Mr. D’Loren has spearheaded its unique omnichannel platform, connecting the channels of digital, bricks & mortar, social media and interactive television to create a single customer view and brand experience for Xcel’s brands. He also serves as Chairman of IPX Capital, LLC and related subsidiaries, a consumer products investment company.
Prior to Xcel Brands, Mr. D’Loren was a Director, President and CEO of NexCen Brands, a global brand acquisition and management company with holdings that included The Athlete’s Foot, Waverly Home, Bill Blass, MaggieMoo’s, Marble Slab Creamery, Pretzel Time, Pretzelmaker, Great American Cookies, and The Shoe Box. This global retail network included 1900 stores located in 45 countries.
From 2002 to 2006, Mr. D’Loren’s visionary work among consumer brands continued as President and CEO of UCC Capital Corporation, where he invested in the consumer branded products, media and entertainment sectors, and most notable, led the recapitalization and restructure of Candies into Iconix Brand Group. Between 1997 and 2002, Mr. D’Loren founded and acted as President and Chief Operating Officer of CAK Universal Credit Corporation, an intellectual property finance company, during which the firm led the industry as a pioneer in its field. Mr. D’Loren’s total career debt and equity investments in over 30 entertainment and consumer branded products companies have exceeded $1.0 billion. Early entrepreneurship roles began in 1980, Mr. D’Loren has also served as an asset manager for Fosterlane Management, as well as a manager with Deloitte. In 1985, he founded and served as President and CEO of the D’Loren Organization, an investment and restructuring firm responsible for over $2 billion of transactions.
As an honoree, Mr. D’Loren has been lauded for his leadership and innovation across industries, as well as for his work as a humanitarian. Mr. D’Loren has served on the Board of Directors for Iconix Brand Group, Longaberger Company, Business Loan Center and as a board advisor to The Athletes Foot and Bill Blass, Ltd. Also, he serves on the Board of Directors for the Achilles Track Club International. Mr. D’Loren is a Certified Public Accountant and holds an M.S. from Columbia University and a B.S. from New York University.
COO & PRESIDENT
Giuseppe “Joe” Falco is our President and Chief Operating Officer. For over 20 years, Mr. Falco has held key management and leadership roles with Dolce & Gabbana, Elie Tahari, and the Sixty Group. He has a proven track record of driving key merchandising strategies to support brand development, business objectives and establishing best-practice operational standards.
Mr. Falco oversees our business’s creative operations for direct response television, retail, e-commerce, and licensing and is responsible for the integration of product, marketing, and customer experience.
Mr. Falco serves on the Vendor Advisory Board of QVC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Liberty Interactive Corporation (LINTA). Mr. Falco holds a B.A. in Political Science from Brooklyn College.
EVP OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AND TREASURY
Seth Burroughs is our Executive Vice President of Business Development and Treasury. From 2006 to 2010, Mr. Burroughs served as Vice President of NexCen Brands, Inc., where he was responsible for M&A and strategic initiatives for the Company. At NexCen, Mr. Burroughs oversaw over $300 million in acquisitions. Prior to his role at NexCen, from 2003 to 2006 Mr. Burroughs served as Director of M&A Advisory and Investor Relations at UCC Capital Corp., a financing company specializing in consumer branded products M&A and the securitization of intellectual property, where he worked on an additional $500 million in acquisitions and $300 million in specialty financing as an advisor to consumer branded products companies in the franchising and apparel industries. From 2001 to 2003, Mr. Burroughs worked as a Senior Financial Analyst at The Pullman Group where he was involved with structuring the first securitizations of music royalties including the Bowie Bonds, and as a Financial Analyst at Merrill Lynch’s private client group. Mr. Burroughs is a graduate of The Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, and serves on the board of directors of the Young Learners of New York, a charity focused on providing equipment and funding to public middle schools of New York City.
Kate Twist is Xcel’s Chief Marketing Officer. She joined the executive team from the Estee Lauder Companies, LLC where she developed global marketing strategy for the Clinique brand. She has also held operating roles at the fashion brands Bill Blass, LLC and Marc Jacobs International. Kate began her career in investment banking and strategic advisory to top tier luxury branded products, retail, and licensing companies. She holds a BA from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
JAMES F. HARAN
James F. Haran is our Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Haran served as CFO of IPX Capital, LLC and related subsidiaries, a consumer products advisory firm from 2009 to 2011. Mr. Haran was the Executive Vice President, Capital Markets for Nexcen Brands, Inc. from 2006 to 2008 and Chief Financial Officer and Chief Credit Officer for UCC Capital Corp. and its predecessor company, CAK Universal Credit Corp. from 1998 to 2006. Prior to joining UCC, Mr. Haran was a partner at Sidney Yoskowitz and Company P.C., a regional certified accounting firm. During his tenure, which began in 1987, his focus was on real estate and financial services companies. Mr. Haran served his clients on an array of strategic and operational levels. Mr. Haran is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from State University of New York at Plattsburgh.
CHIEF DESIGNER-ISAAC MIZRAHI BRANDS
Isaac Mizrahi has been a leader in the fashion industry for almost 30 years. Since his first collection in 1987, Mr. Mizrahi’s designs have come to stand for timeless, cosmopolitan, style. He has been awarded four Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) awards, including a special award in 1996 for the groundbreaking documentary “Unzipped.” Mr. Mizrahi is Chief Designer for the Isaac Mizrahi brands, a division of Xcel Brands, Inc. He is responsible for design and design direction. In 2012, Mr. Mizrahi launched the Isaac Mizrahi New York collection, available at better retailers nationwide and at isaacmizrahi.com. Previously, in 2009, Mr. Mizrahi launched his exclusive lifestyle collection, ISAACMIZRAHILIVE! on QVC. In addition, television audiences have come to value Isaac’s media presence through his roles on “Project Runway All Stars” for Lifetime, “The Fashion Show” for Bravo and his own series for both Oxygen and the Style Network.
CHIEF DESIGNER-JUDITH RIPKA BRANDS
Judith Ripka started her acclaimed career in 1977 and since its inception the global brand has become known for its impeccable quality and distinctive and refined designs. Both the 18k Gold collection and a Sterling Silver collection are available at the Madison Avenue flagship and in fine jewelry stores worldwide. Ms. Ripka was a pioneer in interactive TV, debuting a collection on QVC in 1996 and more recently on The Shopping Channel in 2014. Ms. Ripka serves as Creative Director for Judith Ripka brands and oversees design and design direction. Among her many milestones, Ms. Ripka was chosen as one of “The Leading Women Entrepreneurs of the World” and received the DeBeer’s Award for Outstanding Jewelry Design.
FASHION DIRECTOR-H BY HALSTON & H HALSTON
Cameron Silver is the Fashion Director of the H Halston and H by Halston brands. As a global celebrity stylist, international best selling author, and fashion expert he is widely recognized as a fashion and style authority. Cameron is also the founder of Decades, an acclaimed vintage retail store in Los Angeles, worshipped by fashionistas and collectors alike. In 2012 he published the global best-selling book, DECADES: A Century of Fashion. Cameron also starred in the Bravo television show Dukes of Melrose which profiled his store, Decades. Named one of Time Magazine’s “25 Most Influential Names and Faces in Fashion,” he has styled celebrities for major red carpet appearances including the Golden Globes and Academy Awards and consulted for fashion and luxury brands around the world.
