H Halston

Xcel acquired the H Halston and H by Halston brands in December of 2014.  Founded in the 1960s, Halston was the first American luxury apparel brand and has become synonymous with glamour, sophistication, and femininity.  Roy Halston Frowick’s groundbreaking designs and visionary style continue to influence designers around the world.

Halston won numerous industry awards and was named “The Premier Fashion Designer in America” by Newsweek.  Halston achieved international notoriety and put American fashion on the map when he participated in the Battle of Versailles, a competition between American and French designers.

Halston was known for his minimalist sensibility and clean designs.  He reinvented iconic silhouettes such as the caftan and shirt dress using his signature fabrics – jersey, cashmere and ultrasuede.

Through famed partnerships with Andy Warhol and other artists, Halston pioneered the integration of fashion and art.  He also dressed many influential celebrities including Liza Minelli, Elizabeth Taylor, Lauren Hutton and Bianca Jagger.  He designed the famous pillbox hat that Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis wore to JFK’s inauguration in 1962.  The brand continues to be seen on key celebrities including Gisele Bundchen, Anna Kendrick and Lady Gaga.

The brand’s legacy lives on through the Halston Heritage, H by Halston, and H Halston labels.  Halston Heritage is a bridge collection retailing at the Halston Heritage e-commerce website, branded stores as well as top tier department stores.  The H by Halston label is available exclusively on interactive television, and the H Halston label will launch at better retailers in 2016.
